Designer Stella McCartney is relocating her original New York flagship from the Meatpacking District to SoHo. The new location, at 112 Greene Street, measures 5,200 square feet.
Her first store opened in September 2002, reports Women’s Wear Daily, when she became one of the first luxury retailers to move to the Meatpacking District.
“A great opportunity came up in SoHo at the same time as our lease was up in the Meatpacking District, and after a successful decade there, we simply took it,” Frederick Lukoff, ceo, Stella McCartney, told WWD.
McCartney is also working on her first store in Florida, which is set to open this month at Bal Harbour Shops. That location would mark her fifth freestanding U.S. store.
Design details at the new SoHo store include brass fixtures, Venetian plaster walls and a sustainable oak parquet floor in a herringbone pattern. Bird marquetry and stone relief terrazzo tiles from the Meatpacking store have been repurposed for Greene Street.
