“Love the lipstick feel of the interior.” That was just one judge’s comment on Megan Miller’s first place entry in the Retail Design Institute’s 2012 Student Design Competition. This year’s call for entries focused on accessory retailing, directing students to develop a new Canadian prototype design for an existing four-story property in Toronto.
A fourth year student at the University of Cincinnati’s (UC) interior design program, Miller’s “Monroe” concept was created as a series of rooms with bold patterns, pops of color and a separate men’s entrance.
Interior design students Rebecca West, also from UC, and Josh Meredith Small, from Washington State University, took home second and third place, respectively.
