Tourneau saw an opportunity to increase its national and international exposure as a timepiece retailer by opening a store at The Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas. The question was how to attract shoppers at Caesars, where more than 200,000 people visit a day.

“You need to have an attraction to get the customer in and past the threshold,” says William Matias, Tourneau's vp, store development. “A lot of retailers do that with lights and shows. But, because of who we are, we needed to take a different approach.”

For starters, clocks installed around the store exterior display times from different areas of the country.

“Nobody has clocks in Las Vegas,” says Matias. “But we wanted to stand out in a very tasteful way and everyone associates our store with clocks.”

Inside the 900-square-foot store, designers incorporated a circular floor pattern that creates a natural flow for shoppers, while also making a visual reference to timepiece movement with stainless-steel clock ticks in the flooring.

A contrasting Birdseye maple and Sapile wood palette highlights the richness of the merchandise. A stone-type finish was added to the floor and perimeter fixtures for a touch of elegance, and taller floor fixtures were installed to create a more comfortable shopping environment.
