U.K. Shopper Traffic Jumps Nearly 88 Percent

The number of shoppers visiting brick-and-mortar stores across the U.K. rose 87.8 percent during the week of April 17, as compared to the previous week, reports Reuters.

The surge followed the reopening of non-essential stores across Britain after three months of lockdown. Non-essential stores in England and Wales reopened April 12.

According to NASDAQ.com, total shopper numbers rose 93.2 percent on high streets; shopping centers saw 126.6 percent growth and retail parks witnessed 35.3 percent.

Despite the rise, the number of shoppers across all Britain retail stores was 25.4 percent lower than the same period in 2019.
