Ugg Company Considers Sale

Deckers Outdoor Corp. (Goleta, Calif.), which makes Ugg boots, is reviewing a variety of strategic options for the company, including a possible sale. Besides the Ugg brand, the company also owns the Teva, Ahnu and Sanuk brands.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the company is exploring ways to enhance stockholder value, which “may include a sale or other transaction,” but cautioned that there “can be no assurance that the strategic review process will result in a transaction.”

Having already purchased a 6 percent stake in the company, activist hedge fund Marcato Capital Management (San Francisco) has previously disclosed intentions to engage with firm on strategic initiatives including, but not limited to, potential acquisitions or sales.
