Visual Graphics Systems Appoints James Sundstad as VP of Retail Strategy and Design

CARLSTADT, NJ – NOVEMBER 3, 2014: Visual Graphic Systems (VGS) is pleased to announce the appointment of James Sundstad as Vice President, Retail Strategy and Design. Based out of VGS’ Seattle office, and working closely with the New Jersey Headquarters office, Sundstad will focus on developing broader strategic relationships with the firm’s national and multi-national portfolio of retail and foodservice clients, as well as expanding the scope of services for VGS’ in-house design agency, Studio D.

Sundstad brings over 30 years industry experience, including serving as Managing Director at FITCH Seattle. Prior to FITCH, James spent six years based in London as Principal of Werkspace Studios, consulting luxury brands and international exhibitions, along with travel & leisure developments. As a Seattle native, Sundstad launched award-winning Werkhaus Creative Communications, acquiring a notable portfolio of clientele and business liaisons in a 16-year span. In this role, Sundstad worked with some of the world’s leading retailers and commercial brands including Nike, Starbucks, Microsoft, Nintendo, K2 Sports and Wells Fargo.

On the decision to join VGS, Sundstad says, “It is rewarding to work with a talented team of professionals as we link strategic design solutions with solid, well-built executions. I have searched for many years to find a company that has the complete range of in-house capabilities that are represented here at VGS. Their 30 year proven track record provides a comprehensive, end-to-end solution that delivers a consistent brand experience – across all consumer touch points. It is with pleasure and optimism that we move forward together and leverage this unique model to better serve our clients.”

Patrick Benasillo, Vice President at VGS, added, “At VGS, we focus on understanding and serving our clients wholly, from their brand, to their business model, to the people who bring it all together. James’ impressive branding and design background, and ultimately his people-focused approach to doing business, made him a natural fit to serve as VGS’ Vice President, Retail Strategy and Design. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
