Walmart Acquires PunchTab

Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) has acquired software-platform builder PunchTab (Silicon Valley, Calif.) under its @Walmart Labs division. Under the agreement, six PunchTab employees will also join the @Walmart Labs team.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the purchase of the tech company will help Walmart enhance its tools and technologies for engaging with customers who shop at its Walmart and Sam’s Club stores. The technologies are expected to help the company engage with shoppers online as well as those in physical stores.

The first project will enhance the way Sam’s Club tailors offers to members via its mobile app and website.
