Walgreens to Raise Wages for Hourly Workers

Walgreens Boots Alliance (Deerfield, Ill.) announced its plans to raise its hourly workers’ wages to $15 per hour by November 2022, CNBC reports. This move will cost the company $450 million over the next three years.

The pay increase, to take place in phases, will reportedly begin this October. Walgreens hasn’t disclosed how many workers will see a pay increase or the current average hourly wage it currently pays.

Walgreens CEO Roz Brewer says, “Investing in and rewarding our team members is not only the right thing to do, it’s highly important to retaining and attracting a talented workforce, and to continuing to serve our critical role in community health care.”
