Walmart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) has hired Scott Price as executive vp, president and ceo of Walmart Asia. In that role, Price will be responsible for the company’s current operations in Asia, including China, India and Japan, as well as business development in the Asia region. He will be based at Walmart’s regional office in Hong Kong and assume his new role Oct. 15.
Price was most recently ceo of DHL Express Europe; prior to that, he was ceo of DHL Express Asia Pacific. He also was president of DHL Express Japan, the company’s largest market in the Asia Pacific region. Before that, Price spent a decade with the Coca-Cola Co. in a variety of roles, including country leader in Japan and director/country manager in China.

He knows the countries, he knows the customers, he knows how to run a business and he knows the region’s potential. Walmart currently has 630 stores in China, India and Japan.
