Western Expansion

Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati) announced plans for a new Macy's store at Simi Valley Town Center in Simi Valley, Calif.

The new 110,000-square-foot Macy's store will be a full-line, two-level department store. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2004 with a planned opening in 2005.

“Macy's truly represents California and now we'll be even closer to our Simi Valley customers,” says Robert Mettler, chairman of Macy's West. “We look forward to bringing our quality merchandise, personal service and exciting shopping experience to this northwest Los Angeles market.”

Macy's West, a division of Federated headquartered in San Francisco, operates 141 stores in seven states and Guam, with 2001 annual sales of more than $4 billion.

Federated, with corporate offices in Cincinnati and New York, currently operates more than 460 stores in 34 states, Guam and Puerto Rico, under the names of Macy's, Bloomingdale's, The Bon Marché, Burdines, Goldsmith's, Lazarus and Rich's.
