Whole Foods Debuting 365 Store

Whole Foods Market Inc. (Austin) will be opening its first 365 store in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The chain’s new format will operate at half the size of a traditional Whole Foods store and will offer a larger selection of prepared foods and fewer total items.

Bloomberg reports the concept is a reaction to consumer complaints about high prices found in Whole Foods stores, as well declining sales for three straight quarters.

The chain’s new format will roll out  to 19 new 365 stores, with units in Portland and Seattle planned to open in the coming months.
