Wisconsin Going Younkers

Saks Inc. (Birmingham, Ala.) has announced it will open a new 101,000-square-foot Younkers store at the Oakwood Mall in Eau Claire, Wis., in April 2002. The new location, previously a Target store, opens following the closing of a 98,800-square-foot store located in the nearby London Square Mall.

“We are extremely excited about the Oakwood Mall store,” says Frank Kulp, president and ceo of Saks'Younkers division. “[It's] a very vibrant retail destination.”

Saks currently operates 51 Younkers stores, as well as 41 Parisian specialty department stores and 203 traditional department stores under the names of Proffitt's, McRae's, Younkers, Herberger's, Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner's and Boston Store. Additionally, New York-based Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises consists of 62 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 51 Saks Off 5th stores.
