Wonka Unveils 3-D Digital Golden Ticket in Toys“R”Us Window

Candy company Wonka unveiled a “Wonka Golden Ticket Choco-tabulator,” which creates 3-D digital Golden Tickets, inside the window at the Toys“R”Us Times Square store. The digital machine, created in partnership between Wonka and Syyn Labs (Los Angeles), measures nearly 16 feet wide and eight feet tall and will be located in the Times Square store, which houses Wonka’s first retail space, for three months.

“The Wonka Golden Ticket Choco-tabulator is a one-of-a-kind work of art never before seen in a store window display,” says Wonka spokesperson Tricia Bowles of Nestlé USA Confections and Snacks, Wonka’s parent company. “During this special anniversary year for Willy Wonka, beloved through the stories and films, we are excited to have the world enjoy this technological masterpiece combining old school mechanics with cutting-edge digital technology.”

Made with real chocolate and other confectionary delights, the Wonka Golden Ticket Choco-tabulator incorporates a 3-D digital video screen with real-life visual and sensory effects, including glimpses inside Wonka’s factory. Each well-timed move produces a 3-D virtual image of the iconic Golden Ticket.

“The Golden Ticket Choco-tabulator was the perfect way to channel our enthusiasm for Wonka,” says Hector Alvarez, creative art director of Syyn Labs. “Each element was designed with true Wonka imagination in mind. We’re using more than 16,000 pieces of chocolate, cookies, toffee and peanuts; 5000 particles of glitter pixels for the Golden Ticket; 350 custom laser-cut pieces; one infinity reflection mirror; and the whole machine, which is larger than three SUVs combined, weighs more than 1000 pounds. From beginning to end, each chocolate ball will roll through 60 different turns and will be on public display through the holiday season.”
