Wrapped Attention

Bloomingdale's, the New York-based division of Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati), has invited local children to create murals commemorating September 11 at all of its 25 locations around the country. The retailer is calling this initiative “Visions of the Future.”

Each store has partnered with a local children's educational organization or summer camp to create a mural with a unique theme ranging from bravery and courage to freedom and healing. The murals will be displayed in all stores from September 6 – 15.

In New York City, the entire flagship store will be wrapped in 30 murals created by children ages 12 to 15 at The Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah in Fishkill, N.Y. Materials were supplied by Viaggio Fabrics, Photobition, A.I. Friedman, Circle Fabrics, JFC Paint and C2 Media.

“These murals, created by our nation's future, pay meaningful tribute to the ideals and values that hold us together today and everyday,” said Bloomingdale's chairman and ceo Michael Gould.
