WWD: Amazon May Sell Luxury Apparel

Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle) may be planning a luxury apparel platform, Retail Dive reports. WWD recently broke the story which sites unnamed industry sources for the information. The platform would first be introduced to the U.S. and later internationally.

LVMH (Paris) reportedly declined Amazon’s invitation to participate, while 12 unnamed brands are said to be participating. Amazon is also said to be building an Arizona-based warehouse for the project.

When Amazon was approached by Retail Dive for comment, a spokesperson replied, “I can’t comment on rumors or speculation.”
