Yum! Finds Buyers for Two Brands

Yum! Brands Inc. (Louisville, Ky.) has signed definitive agreements to sell Long John Silver’s Inc. and A&W Restaurants to two separate buyers led by key franchisee leaders.

LJS Partners LLC will acquire Long John Silver’s, while A Great American Brand LLC is the buyer for A&W restaurants.

“We are pleased to announce that we have identified strategic buyers who are passionate about these two great restaurant brands and committed to their growth potential,” says David Novak, Yum! Brands chairman and ceo, report QSR Magazine.

The company says its focus is on international expansion and improving its U.S. brand positions with its KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands.

Both sales are expected to close in the fourth quarter and are subject to final closing conditions.

Yum! Brands operates 38,000 restaurants in more than 110 countries and territories.
