Rochester, N.Y. – November 13, 2013 –  Bergmann Associates is thrilled to announce its work on 100 LEED® certified projects!  The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

Bergmann is especially proud of this milestone because it is a tangible recognition of how we can all be stewards of our community and environment.  These building owners, suppliers, contractors, tenants and neighbors are now vested in a conscious and beneficial effort to make our world a better, more sustainable place.

The strength of USGBC has always been the collective strength of our leaders in the building industry,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chairman – U.S. Green Building Council.  “We commend Bergmann Associates on their involvement in 100 LEED Certified projects and overall commitment to sustainable development.”

Among the many significant projects in Bergmann’s LEED portfolio, several notable achievements are:  TD Bank Net -Zero / Platinum Store (Cypress Creek, FL); ABVI Goodwill – Retail Store (Macedon, NY); University of Rochester – Clinical & Translational Science Institute (Rochester, NY); the Unity Health at Ridgeway Medical Office Building (Rochester, NY); Destiny USA (Syracuse, NY) and the University of Charlotte – Center City Building (Charlotte, NC).  The 100 projects are spread throughout 12 states, covering six industry types and include:  50 LEED Gold buildings, 9 LEED Platinum retail stores and 1 operating Net-Zero Bank.

We would particularly like to give mention to the new Crocs store at Destiny USA in Syracuse, NY.  Not only does that store mark Bergmann’s 100th LEED certified project, but it was also Crocs’ first LEED certified store.   Bergmann provided LEED consulting and commissioning services for the 2,646 sq. ft. space which features a high efficiency LED lighting system, low VOC construction materials, and utilizes the mall’s rainwater harvest system.  “Crocs was engaged from the beginning of this project and was committed to incorporating sustainable design elements throughout this high performance retail space,” said Charles Bertuch, Bergmann’s Energy Group Leader.

“It was a pleasure working alongside Pyramid, Destiny USA and Bergman Associates on Crocs’ first LEED Certified retail project. Bergmann guided us to LEED Silver Certification making the process a success as well as a great learning experience for all involved,” added Chris Theiss, Crocs Director of Retail Store Development – America’s.
