Electronics retailer to open 60-plus new stores

Best Buy Co. Inc.(Minneapolis) plans to open more than 60 new stores in 2002, including its first outlets in Utah and Alaska.

The Utah locations, slated to open this summer, will be in South Salt Lake City, Sandy, Murray and Riverdale. Then, this fall, the specialty electronics retailer will open a store in Anchorage, Alaska.

“We look forward to providing these areas with affordable, high-tech consumer electronics and entertainment products that make life easier and fun,” says Pat Matre, Best Buy vp of real estate.

Best Buy operates more than 1800 stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
