Abercrombie & Fitch (New Albany, Ohio) has opened the doors to its first French store on Paris’ Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

The four-story, 33,000-square-foot store has an entry featuring a gilded wrought iron gate, tree-lined path and manicured garden, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

The Paris location joins other international flagships in London, Milan, Copenhagen, Tokyo and Fukuoka. Additional flagships are planned for Madrid, Düsseldorf, Brussels, Dublin and Singapore, in 2011.

“I think we are overstored in the U.S., we’ve been very candid about that, and we don’t want to do the same in Europe,” Head of investor relations Eric Cerny told WWD. “It’s more about exclusivity, like a club.”
