Aldi Expanding in Pennsylvania, New Jersey

Discount grocery chain Aldi U.S. (Batavia, Ill.) will convert 30 of the 66 Delhaize (Brussels, Belgium)-owned Bottom Dollar stores it acquired last year to Aldi stores. The announcement came Friday as the companies finalized the $15 million deal, reports Supermarket News. Aldi said it intends sell or sublease the 36 remaining stores. All of the stores purchased from Delhaize are located in the Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey areas.

Aldi did not say when the new stores will open, however, according to Supermarket News, store conversions have already begun in some Pennsylvania locations.
