Lower Manhattan’s much-anticipated Brookfield Place opened on Thursday across from the new One World Trade Center in the building complex formerly known as the World Financial Center. Construction of the newly renovated, $300 million mall began in 2011, according to Bloomberg Business.
Developers built the 300,000 square-foot complex to target upscale residents of lower Manhattan. Tenants include retailers such as Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Vince, Lululemon, Bonobos and Theory. Luxury brands have also taken up residency at Brookfield Place, including Hermès, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Ermenegildo Zegna. Anchor Saks Fifth Avenue will open its first downtown store at Brookfield next year.
Brookfield Place is also expected to benefit from thousands of daily commuters, tourists, and other visitors as the space is connected, underground, to the rest of the World Trade Center and its transportation hubs.
