Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World

Bass Pro Shops prides itself on creating stores that bring the great outdoors indoors. The sporting goods retailer took that theme to a new level at its Outdoor World in Denver, where the Rocky Mountains serve as a spectacular backdrop to the two-level, 186,000-square-foot superstore. The design, by the retailer’s in-house team, won first place in the Big-Box Retail category of the ISP/VM+SD International Store Design Competition.

Inside, store sports a “great lodge” theme, featuring a grand entrance framed with massive log and rockwork, a 63-foot-high central gabled clerestory, a series of outdoor-themed chandeliers, concrete flooring imprinted with dinosaur fossils and wildlife tracks, and a 21,000-gallon freshwater aquarium.
