Big Red Rooster, Fitch, WD Partners Expand Staffs … And More Industry News

MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Research, strategy and design firm Big Red Rooster (Columbus, Ohio) has added eight associates. For the Atlanta office, new associates include Lori Harrison and Staci Mandrell. For the Columbus office, new associates include Kay Lavelle as vp of human resources; Kaylynn Arnold as graphic designer; David Denniston as senior creative; Rebecca Odell as communications coordinator; Elaine Roberts as graphic designer; and Ashley Rowland as analyst.

Columbus-based design firm Fitch hired senior creative leaders for both its Seattle and Columbus offices. Additions to the Columbus office include Eric Daniel, Ryan Brazelton and Joanne Putka. New hires at the Seattle office include Chad Witzel, Erin Wilson, Luis Infante and Stuart Johnson.

Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati/New York) named Steven Derwoed vp of merchandising within the store planning and design group (SPACE). Before joining Macy’s, Derwoed served as principal in the New York office of Callison Architects and vp of design at RYA Design Consultancy.

Retail design firm WD Partners (Dublin, Ohio) hired Tan Xie, LEED AP and a registered architect, to manage the firm’s new office in Shenzhen, China. Xie has more than a decade of experience in design, code research, detail development, construction documents and administration.

Architectural signage solution firm Poblocki Sign Co. (Milwaukee) promoted Terry McGushin to president. McGushin joined Poblocki in June 2010, serving as vp and chief operating officer. He previously worked in sales and marketing for such companies as Harley-Davidson, Rite-Hite Holding Corp. and Arbon Corp.

STORE OPENING

Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. LLC (Quincy, Mass.) opened a location in Andover, Mass. Energy-efficient features include low-flow fixtures, ECM motors in the refrigerated fixtures and walk-in coolers, low-mercury, energy-efficient and LED light fixtures and an energy management system. The chain operates more than 390 stores throughout the Northeast.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Flooring manufacturer Amtico Intl. (Atlanta) was selected by Atlanta Journal-Constitution as one of the top 100 workplaces in Atlanta. Employees graded their companies on factors including direction of the company, work conditions, career paths, management, pay and benefits.

Electrical distributor Rexel (Dallas) launched a new electrical efficiency online resource at www.electrical-efficiency.com. This new online magazine offers content on related regulations, solutions, projects, markets and worldwide news.

Flooring manufacturer Centiva (Florence, Ala.) launched its Centiva First Step iPhone and iPad app at the 2011 NeoCon show in Chicago. Users can search and review flooring products, share their selections with colleagues and order product samples.

The Oakville, Ont., location of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), designed by Fiorino Design Inc. (Toronto), tied for the Retail Council of Canada’s (RCC) Excellence in Retailing Award in the large retailer category. The flagship was recognized for providing an optimum shopping experience for its customers through store design and achieving measurable results for the retailer.

Nancy Jackson, president of commercial solutions firm Architectural Systems Inc. (New York), was inducted into her fourth term as a New York board member on the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

Graphics system creator Visual Magnetics (Mendon, Mass.) selected Trico Specialty Films LLC (North Kingstown, R.I.) as a major supplier for components used in the manufacture of its Visual Magnetics Graphics System.
