Bon-Ton Opening Herberger’s Store

The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. (York, Pa.) has signed a letter of intent with Simon Property Group Inc. for a 135,000-square-foot facility located in the Southdale Center in Edina, Minn. The retailer expects to begin remodeling the site in March, with a new Herberger’s department store opening in November 2011.

The Southdale Herberger’s will become the sixth location in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market, joining Blaine Northtown Mall, Midway Market Place, Rosedale Center, Southtown Center and Stillwater St. Croix Mall.

“Minneapolis continues to be an excellent market for us and we look forward to further expansion of the Herberger’s brand in the area,” says Bud Bergren, president and ceo. “We believe the addition of a Herberger’s in Southdale Center will enhance the total shopping experience for our customers in this market.”

Bon-Ton operates 275 department stores, including 11 furniture galleries, under the Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Parisian, Herberger’s and Younkers nameplates. The stores offer a broad assortment of national and private brand fashion apparel and accessories for women, men and children, as well as cosmetics and home furnishings.
