BVG

Disney's Contemporary Resort, Orlando

BVG — a new retail space in Disney's Contemporary Resort, Orlando — is as unique as its surroundings. A structural grid system, forming the store's roof, is completely encased in Plexiglas® panels so patrons can gaze up to the looming hotel stories. Guests can also look down from the balcony, but shoppers are protected from any falling objects.

BVG's design concept was developed through an “Art is Architecture” storyline. A “Niche Wall,” for example, is a Cubist approach to merchandising select pieces. Designers wanted a dominant presentation that was simple and clean, and new fixture designs were integral to the plot. One fixture allows more creative ways of presenting merchandise. The fixture's two main components are decoratively connected with an aluminum-wrapped, metal swirl topper.
