Cascadia, an upscale restaurant in the Belltown section of Seattle, celebrates the city's rainy reputation with a custom focal point. Designers at Girvin (Seattle) built a 63-square-foot “rain portal” wherein water runs between two frosted glass panes. Fiberoptics light a panel, which separates the dining and kitchen areas with a vignette of the Cascade Mountains.

Custom design appears throughout the restaurant in the form of mosaic tile flooring, antique cherry casework, upholstery and a white onyx bar top.
