Chairman Stepping Up at Kohl's

Kellogg will end his operational duties in January

William Kellogg, chairman of Kohl's Corp. (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) for the past 23 years, announced that he will retire from his operational responsibilities at the end of the company's fiscal year in January 2001. He will remain chairman of the board. CEO R. Lawrence Montgomery will assume operational duties, which will include control for the department store retailer's expansion efforts. Those plans are for 55-60 new stores in 2001, includingapproximately 12 stores in the Atlanta market. Kellogg rose in the Kohl's operation in 33 years, from assistant store manager in 1967 to chairman of the board and ceo in 1977.
