Wal-Mart to add three new stores in booming Chinese consumer market

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) said it plans to add three new stores in China. The U.S. retail giant said it expects the consumer market there to grow 10 percent every year and post 20 trillion yuan ($2.42 trillion) in sales by 2010. Wal-Mart’s investment in China’s liberalized retail sector has amounted to 1.6 billion yuan over the past eight years (about $190 million).
