Specialty Store, Sales Area 5001 to 10,000 Square Feet
Award of Merit
Michael Neumann Architecture LLC, New York

Feminine materials and an architecturally driven design mark the new Coach flagship in Tokyo. The exterior wall is replaced by glass, exposing a second layer of massive structural columns and floor slabs, and a third layer of vertical wood slats through which customers enter and exit. A materials palette of bleached walnut, limestone, white lacquer and glass keeps things light.
