Former Liz Claiborne executive hired to run David Meister apparel business

Kellwood Co. (St. Louis) has named Gail Cook president of its David Meister division. According to Kellwood chairman, president and ceo Robert Skinner, Cook will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the division and will be Meister's strategic partner for the continued growth of the designer's business.

Prior to Kellwood, Cook ran her own strategic apparel consultancy, Gail Cook & Co. From 1990 to 2004, she served in several senior executive roles at Liz Claiborne Cos. Inc. (New York), her most recent post being group president, responsible for the management, strategic direction and product and brand development of the Dana Buchman, Sigrid Olsen and Ellen Tracy brands. She began her career in apparel with Herb Gallen, owner and founder of Ellen Tracy.
