Industry veteran Robert Miller elected chairman of food retailer Wild Oats

Wild Oats Markets Inc. (Boulder, Colo.) has announced the election of Robert Miller, currently chairman of Rite Aid Corp. (Camp Hill, Pa.), to serve as its non-executive chairman of the board.

Miller had also been ceo of Rite Aid from December 1999 until June 2003. Prior to that, he served as vice chairman and coo of The Kroger Co. (Cincinnati), joining Kroger when it acquired Fred Meyer Inc. (Portland, Ore.) in 1999. He had been ceo of Fred Meyer.

Miller replaces John Shields, who stepped down as chairman earlier this year, but continues to serve on the Wild Oats board.
