Saks Inc. (New York) has named John Cruz senior vp and director of its New York City Saks flagship store, effective April 29, 2013. He will report directly to Jennifer de Winter, evp of stores.

Cruz currently heads another one of the luxury retailer’s high-performing stores, on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, Calif. He has been with the company since 1994, previously serving as gm of the New York store from 2005 until 2010, when he was promoted to his current Beverly Hills post. He has also held positions in Saks stores in Chicago, Chevy Chase, Md., and Highland Park, Ill.

Cruz will succeed Suzanne Stemper-Johnson, who has led the New York store since 2007 and is leaving Saks “to pursue other interests.” She will, however, stay with the company for a transition period.
