For its Atlanta debut, Galyan's, the Indianapolis-based sporting-goods chain, developed a three-story, triangular-shaped store that features a soaring atrium, massive crossing escalators and Galyan's signature rock-climbing wall. Retail Design Group (Columbus, Ohio) describes it as a department-store/big-box hybrid with themed departments. Elements such as a space-frame ceiling truss and an aluminum-sheathed video wall distinguish the fitness department, while reclaimed tree trunks and heavy timber rafters in the camping area allude to the great outdoors.
