GameStop Names New CEO, CFO

GameStop (Grapevine, Texas) has named a new CEO and CFO, both former executives of Amazon (Seattle).

Matt Furlong, the company’s new CEO, will begin in his role June 21. Most recently in charge of leading growth for Amazon’s Australia endeavors, Furlong worked for Amazon for roughly 9 years. He also previously worked for Procter & Gamble (Cincinnati).

Mike Recupero, also formerly of Amazon, has been named GameStop’s new CFO. Recupero worked for Amazon for 17 years and was the CFO of its North American consumer business, according to a company press release.

The video game retailer has hired three other previous Amazon executives during the course of the past three months, including Elliott Wilke as its Chief Growth Officer, Matt Francis as its Chief Technology Officer and Jenna Owens as its Chief Operating Officer. Co-founder of Chewy (Dania Beach, Fla.), Ryan Cohen, has also been named the company’s Chair and will be part of leading GameStop’s e-commerce ventures.
