For the first time in 15 years, fashions from Gap Inc. (San Francisco) will be featured on the cover of Vogue.

The fashion magazine will devote its May cover to Gap’s new Design Editions collection, a line of women’s apparel by three selected young designers, Doo-Ri Chung, Kate and Laura Mulleavy (the creative team behind Rodarte) and Thakoon Panichgul, who have each come up interpretations of Gap’s classic white shirt. The collection, which retails for $68-$88, will launch this week in 100 Gap stores.

None of the three designers has signed a long-term contract with Gap, but the retailer has signed a multi-year agreement with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue to feature other emerging designers over the next five years.
