Gap’s in Love

To open accessories shop in its New York flagship

Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has announced a first-of-its-kind accessories-only shop at its Fifth Avenue flagship store in Manhattan, to be called Love.

The retailer says the shop was inspired by customer comments, such as “I love my Gap bag.”

The 800-square-foot space, which opens November 18, will feature a new interior concept as well as specially designed packaging to house the accessories. The packaging, which will also become available at select Gap stores nationwide, includes accessory-sized boxes and bags, with printed quotes from the Gap design team about their inspiration for the accessories. And the shopping bags will display the “Love” logo in the style of the original Gap blue box.

Merchandise in the shop includes bags, hats, scarves, gloves, shoes, hosiery, belts, pins and brooches. Iconic items in recent seasons include the Gap Trench Bag, the flower corsage pins and the scarf belts featured in the current Gap ad campaign featuring Sarah Jessica Parker.
