Girbaud Ordered to Liquidate

Denim company still seeking to relaunch its brand

Marithé + Francois Girbaud (Paris), once the height of French denim fashion, has been ordered by the commercial court in Paris to liquidate and has closed its seven company-owned stores.

The company filed for bankruptcy last year, but missed the court’s deadline to reorganize and regain profitability.

Franchise boutiques throughout France, as well as in Casablanca and London, will remain open while the two founders whose names are on the label and company president Denis Noharet continue talks with an unidentified  foreign investor to re-launch the brand later this year or early next.
