HanesBrands Inc. (Winston Salem, N.C.) has agreed to acquire Maidenform Brands Inc. (Iselin, N.J.) for about $575 million.

Maidenform said the merger of the two lingerie powerhouses should close in the fourth quarter. The combined entity would have more than $5 billion in annual revenues.

Hanesbrands’ portfolio includes Hanes, Playtex, Bali, Just My Size, Barely There, Wonderbra, Champion and L’eggs labels; Maidenform makes Maidenform, Flexees, Lilyette, Self-Expressions and Sweet Nothings, and is the licensed manufacturer of the Donna Karan and DKNY intimates labels.
