Linens 'n Things Inc. (Clifton, N.J.), a large-format retailer of home textiles, housewares and home accessories, is on track to open 50 new stores in 2002. During the first nine months of the year, the company has opened 42 new stores in 27 states and two Canadian provinces.

About 30 percent of the current store openings represent expansion into new markets, which enables Linens 'n Things to continue to build its customer base by offering more than 25,000 home furnishings items. The new stores are in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin, as well as three new Canadian stores located in Edmonton, Alb, Calgary, Alb. and Coquitlam, B.C.

“These new stores will continue to build brand recognition, expand our loyal customer base and contribute to increased revenues,” says chairman and ceo Norman Axelrod.

Linens 'n Things offers private-label merchandise, under the “LNT” brand, name brand offerings including Nautica, Calphalon, Cuisinart, Wamsutta, Laura Ashley, Krups, Henckels, Croscill and Waverly, as well as other value-priced brand name bed linens, window treatments, cookware, home accessories, storage and bath accessories.
