J. Crew (New York) has opened its fourth men’s-only store, at 1040 Madison Avenue at 79th Street, across the street from a J. Crew women’s collection boutique.

The design of the 3400-square-foot, two-level location takes its cue from old men’s clubs, including paneling and floors constructed from unfinished knotty pine, a black ceiling and David Hicks pendant lamps, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

The specialty retailer operates other men’s stores on West Broadway in TriBeCa, known as the Liquor Store because of its location in a former bar, and in SoHo at 484 Broadway. A third mall location is in Garden State Plaza in Paramus, N.J.

The company reports that men’s overall accounts for around 25 percent of its $1.4 billion volume. Plans call for expanding the concept this fall, with stores slated for Copley Place in Boston and Chicago.
