Joseph Abboud (Boston) has opened its first flagship store in New York, located at 424 Madison Avenue, according to a press release.

The 4300-square-foot store was designed by Jeffrey Hutchison & Associates (New York) and is meant to be reminiscent of Savile Row, a street in central London, known for its many bespoke men’s stores.

Hand-drawn charcoal fashion illustrations by artist Bill Rancitelli are among the curated decor, which also includes a vintage terracotta bust; a range of textile patterns, meant to complement the apparel; and an art-deco-inspired table comprising tapered bronze and a chocolate shagreen top. The flagship also features a 15-foot ivory Venetian plaster-vaulted ceiling, lit by brass and hand-blown glass chandeliers.

Another highlight is an iron staircase leading to Joseph Abboud’s custom clothing “experience.” The mezzanine level includes a wall of more than 250 Italian fabrics and oversized swatches merchandised on bronze hooks. Here, a specialist will help shoppers choose from suit options including fabric, lining, stitching, suit silhouette and functioning button holes.
