Juicy Founders Want Their Brand Back

Skaist-Levy, Nash-Taylor reportedly seeking an investor

Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, who founded Juicy Couture in 1997 in Los Angeles, are rumored to be looking for an investor to reacquire the brand from its current owner, Fifth & Pacific Cos. Inc. (New York, the former Liz Claiborne Inc.).

Fifth & Pacific has put the brand up for sale, with final bids due this week. The company has been shopping Juicy Couture and Lucky Brand, hoping to raise money for the Kate Spade expansion. According to Women’s Wear Daily, a couple of the large bidders include Authentic Brands Group (New York), whose stable includes Judith Leiber, Adrienne Vittadini, Taryn Rose, Prince and Hickey Freeman; and private equity group IDG Capital Partners (Beijing).

Since the two women left Juicy Couture in 2010, they have started the high-end apparel line, Skaist Taylor.
