Kmart Corp. (Troy, Mich.) has named Rose Reza senior vp multicultural merchandising. Reporting to Cecil Kearse, executive vp merchandising, she will be responsible for developing the company's merchandising assortment for what Kmart calls “the diverse cultures of its customer base.”

Replacing Reza as senior vp of the Southeast division is William Wulfers, who was most recently a regional vp of store operations for Wal-Mart.

Reza, also a Wal-Mart veteran (of 15 years), had been regional vp responsible for the South Florida region when she left to join Kmart earlier this year. While at Wal-Mart, she had been the recipient of the Sam Walton Entrepreneurial Award.

Wulfers will be responsible for overseeing the operations of approximately 550 stores in nine states. He served 14 years at Wal-Mart, most recently as a regional vp store operations. He also was president and ceo of Campo Electronics, Appliances and Computers, Inc., and divisional vp of AutoZone.

The company said that since chairman and ceo Chuck Conaway joined Kmart in May 2000, more than 500 executives from various retail and other Fortune 100 companies have signed on.
