The Limited (Columbus, Ohio) has named Diane Ellis, currently president and chief operating officer of Brooks Brothers (New York), its new ceo.

The specialty apparel retailer, a subsidiary of Sun Capital Partners (Boca Raton, Fla.), has been without a ceo since Linda Heasley left to become ceo of Lane Bryant, a former Limited stablemate, in February.

Before Brooks Brothers, Ellis was a founding partner of Lighthouse Retail Group, a Pittsfield, Mass., consultancy, and managing director for the retail strategy practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Her retail stops also included Filene’s, Marshalls and Joseph Horne.
