Macy’s Plans ‘Backstage’ Shop-in-Shops

Macy’s (Cincinnati, Ohio) has plans to install “Backstage” stores inside some of its existing retail locations, reports AOL. The Backstage stores will offer Macy’s products at discounted prices, some marked down to 80-percent off and are intended to attract younger customers.

The company plans to test the arrangement and see whether the discount outlets increase business or draw customers away from the higher-priced, traditional stores.

Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren explained, “We have to make stores more productive — all of us box stores. Customers buying online have got to find more reasons to visit.”
