Macy’s Expands Same-Day Delivery

Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati) is planning to expand its same-day delivery service in several markets across the U.S. The company is partnering with Deliv (Menlo Park, Calif.), a delivery startup that functions like Uber Technologies Inc. (San Francisco), to offer faster deliveries.

Macy’s will be offering same-day delivery services in Houston, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles and New Jersey.

Reuters reports the move is an effort to combat same-day delivery from Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle), which already offers the service in 14 U.S. markets. Macy’s plans to use its 886 stores to source products that are already close to consumers.
