FIRST PLACE – HOLIDAY WINDOW DISPLAY
It's Christmas Time in the City
Macy's,
New York

Inspired by the art of pop-up books, Macy's celebrated the 2005 holiday season with six stories of Christmas in New York that literally unfolded before spectators' eyes. Mechanics, lighting and sound were coordinated over 21/2 minutes as each story went from closed book to full-open storybook page.

Judges enjoyed the grand sense of theater on display. “They took all these flat elements and brought them to life,” commented one judge. “I can imagine all the kids lined up and waiting for the story to unfold.”
