Men’s Wearhouse To Open Joseph Abboud Flagship

Men’s Wearhouse (Houston), which purchased the Joseph Abboud brand for $97.5 million in July 2013, will open a Joseph Abboud flagship on Madison Avenue in New York next spring.

Since its purchase of the brand, Men’s Wearhouse has been rolling out a new Abboud line at its stores nationwide. The merchandise retails for 30 to 40 percent more (suits retail at about $695 versus $495) than the Joseph Abboud products currently sold in Men’s Wearhouse stores, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The Manhattan flagship, located within blocks of Brooks Brothers and Paul Stuart stores, will serve as a showcase for the brand, a company spokesman said. Jeffrey Hutchison & Associates (New York) has been hired to design the store. Currently, no other stores are planned. The company is calling the flagship a “laboratory,” however, for new retail concepts.
