Neiman's Steamin'

Neiman Marcus Group Inc. (Dallas) reported a 10.4 percent increase in total revenues for the four weeks ended Nov. 4, 2003. Comparable revenues increased 9.7 percent.

For the company's Specialty Retail Stores segment, which includes Neiman Marcus stores and Bergdorf Goodman, comparable revenues increased 6.4 percent. The retailer said revenue growth trends were the strongest in the Northeast region. Top merchandise categories were designer handbags, contemporary sportswear, jewelry, men's clothing and women's shoes.

Comparable revenues at Neiman Marcus Direct for the four-week October period increased 15.0 percent, during the time the retailer issue its famous annual Christmas book.

For the retail organization's first quarter of fiscal year 2004, revenues increased 10.7 percent, 9.5 percent for the Specialty Retail Stores. Comparable revenues for the quarter increased 8.2 percent for Neiman Marcus stores and 18.2 percent for Bergdorf Goodman.
