Neiman Marcus (Dallas) has announced it will build a new anchor store at Westfield Topanga, an upscale retail development in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley owned by Westfield Group (Sydney, Australia).

The new 120,000-square-foot, two-level store is scheduled to open in the spring of 2008.

“We look forward to bringing our quality merchandise assortments and our renowned services to the San Fernando Valley market,” said Neiman Marcus president and ceo Burton Tansky. “We see the growth and development of this portion of the Los Angeles market as an excellent opportunity for Neiman Marcus. This addition to the redeveloped Topanga center will strengthen our Southern California presence.”

In addition to the new Neiman Marcus, Westfield Topanga’s $300 million redevelopment will include at least one additional anchor and an expansion precinct of more than 100 new specialty retail shops, restaurants, a cafe-style food pavilion, and three new covered parking structures. The completed expansion will add approximately 600,000 square feet of retail space to the existing center, bringing the total redeveloped center to 1.6 million square feet. Construction is expected to begin on that expansion in spring 2005, for an anticipated fall 2006 opening.
